I played Ani! I found the giant snakes and the conversation at the school interesting and fun. It was heartbreaking to learn that Ani was being ostracized by everyone... I played before and after the version upgrade, and it's amazing how many different bugs are gone in the current version! I gave up on the puzzle and looked at the text, meow~!
First of all, congrats to your first game. :) Well it is a very interesting game. I liked the game and sometimes I got scared of the little jumpscares it had. The art style is nice and pleasant and I felt like the game has a serious and bit scary mood. As a little feedback, I personally prefer those horror games that is frightening by the atmosphere, instead of jumpscares. Jumpscares are good way to scare the players, but after some time it gets boring.
At first I couldn't really understand the dialogues because they were not so direct, more like they were telling you the story indirectly. So I had to read them all over again to understand what is going on. I like this kind of games that are not so straightforward. The only thing I couldn't figure out was the 6-digit code. Maybe I didn't notice something or I'm just stupid, but I had no idea how could I find out the code, so I had to use the TXT to check it.
I checked the bad ending, the boss fight was simple but surprising in a good way. At first I didn't know why the game brings me back to the bottom, then I realized so I finished the game.
The main menu is simple, the options are only containing master volume slider, which is okay-ish. I have encountered with many bugs during my playthrough, just to mention a few(probably you're already know them):
- During the dialogue, if you exit to the main menu, the time keeps in slow motion, that affects the main menu also.
- If you exit from a dialogue while the dialogue is still in progress, the slow motion is in effect, meaning that you are moving very slowly.
- The master volume slider seems to change the volume a bit incorrectly, some audio still loud even though the slider is on the left side.
- During some dialogues(especially in the boss fight), if you spam the F to enter into a dialogue, it will multiply the dialogues, meaning that the dialogues will be in play in the same time.
- In the first cutscene at the very beginning of the game, after the black silhouette(mentioning her like that to avoid spoilers) leaves, the game fades to black screen, and the text to continue appears after like 10 seconds. It is not a bug I think, but 10 seconds is too much to wait in a black screen. If something should happen after she left you, then it is a bug.
- The game saves the master volume's slider value, but it does not change the volume when starting the game.
- In the TXT file, the Whiteness 6-digit code doesn't seem to work.
- The kid's dialogue at the bus stop plays the very first dialogue after choosing an option. It doesn't matter which one.
- In the Blueberry tree, the key button doesn't show up when you are able to enter or exit from the building.
- There is a bug, which shouldn't really be a big problem because you have to play the game in a wrong way in order to produce this bug. If you stay in a dialogue, and you chance a room, the camera will reposition itself to a very far distance from you and then realign. Not a game-breaking bug, more like a little something to be mentioned.
- In the main menu, there is a missing sprite or image on the left side behind the buttons.(I can send an image if necessary)
- If you are in a dialogue, you can still use your umbrella, but the umbrella doesn't spawn, but it's duration is in effect, therefore you have to wait until it expires and then re-enable the umbrella.
- If you want to leave an area, and you choose "no", you have to go away from the door and then go back in order to try again.
As you have said, it is your first game so it's totally understandable that there are bugs in the game so there is nothing to worry about. The only thing I would mention here is the spelling errors. For example, at the very beginning, if you want to skip the cutscene, "continue" is spelled incorrectly, and it is not the only one. It is not annoying for me, but it is something to be aware of. Other than these, the dialogues were interesting and some of them were funny(for example, the guys in the classroom).
Overall it is a good start with a unique art style and with a short but interesting story. So I'm excited to check your next game. :)
omg thank you soo much for playing the game!! I’m so sorry you we’re able to complete the game without the txt file D:!
Originally there would have been highlighted text in the dialogue but I personally thought that it was an easy code, should have asked someone to play it first my fault!
I did know most of the bugs mentions but thank you for being up more issues! I also didn’t realise I slept so many things wrong sorta dyslexic bit imma get someone to help me with that!
Im glad the dialogue is a little funny and not too cringey lool
The child at the bus stop will jump you no matter what option you pick which! I’ll check if there’s a bug for it anyways!
I’m do sorry the code didn’t work! I’m an idiot and wrote the numbers wrong somehow??! I’ll be updating the TXT and the game!! I also messed up the names like what?? You’ve entered Whiteness if you see the eyes. That could was for the grave right? In Hell the code is supposed to be 310121!
Thank you for playing my game and I’ll update it so it’s more easy to understand!!!
Yeah I entered into the Whiteness then(there were definitely so many eyes, and the graveyard's gate opened). The 6-digit code in the TXT for Whiteness didn't work(even tried some similar combinations), so I tried the one for Hell and it was working, so one of the codes are not good. It's completely fine, I guess it's going to be fixed very soon and it didn't ruin the experience.
I saw the highlighted texts in the dialogues, but I couldn't really figure out what is the code. I'm assuming that I skipped something that I shouldn't have. The guy in the storage room talked about Principal Tomi so I went down to her, but she didn't really give me any clues. Today I tried to figure out again and noticed the colors on the walls and that these witches have colors similar to those on the walls, but I didn't really know that I should count all of the colors or only count those colors that matches with the witches in the same room they are. No luck for me I guess or dunno, I'm stoopid or overcomplicate it. ಥ﹏ಥ.
I know that the child in the bus stop will jump to you no matter what you decide, the bug was related to the dialogue. While it is an automatic dialogue, and your umbrella expires before you finish the dialogue, and then you use the umbrella again, the dialogue will start all over again, fading into the already existing one.
Today I noticed one more bug that maybe you aware of. If you press F instead of E when you would like to enter to another room, it will slow down the game. I guess the game thinks it is a dialogue or something like that. This works with the chest too.
And if you're dyslexic no matter how much, it is a huge thing to make a game will full of dialogues and storytelling, so congratulations for that. And yes, I think it is the best decision to ask someone to proofread a game with full of texts to check any grammar or phrasing errors, so the players will get the best experience.
I think i've solved most issues now! I change the thing where everything is slow to just it to be 45 seconds, (which i know will turn everything normal but should restart the NPC dialogue hopefully!! )I've was just about to upload the updated version lol! I updated the txt file as well to included the RIGHT combo and explaining why that's the combo.
Thank you for the feedback i really appreciate it! i got so anxious wondering people were even able to play it properly!!
I tried out the new update, there are some improvements especially with the hints, but I feel like it's still a bit out of touch.
Let me explain a bit what I think about here:
The puzzle to get the 6-digit code is not bad, however there is no hint or instructions that the player should watch out for the characters name. Without the TXT, I wouldn't really think about the names. So in my opinion, it should be a bit more clear to let the players know where they should search for the code. Here I should add that maybe it was only me who didn't think about names so maybe I'm wrong.
Now the codes were working well, and I could try out Hell. It is a bit more satisfying compared to the Whiteness and more difficult, but there are many bugs here and some annoying mechanics that should be changed in my opinion.
First of all, the Hell's art style looks great, but it's too dark that you barely see anything. I think it should be a bit more brighter there. The next thing is that it is more difficult because of the hands that are trying to block or push you down from the platforms, I think at some point they are too fast or irritating. I think some platforms are too high to reach, the only way is to stuck into it and then jump from there. After the completion of the boss fight, the timer stays there with -1 values, but I think you are aware of that issue. Then the final cutscene comes, but as we are halfway in the cutscene, a text shows up "Thanks for playing :)" and you are able to return to the main menu by pressing E. I guess that should be after the cutscene. I will upload a video that shows these issues more clearly.
None of them are game breaking bugs and even with those little issues in the boss fight it was good and interesting. I really liked the "hell" text in the background which only readable when you stop the video while recording(not me khmm), these little details add so much to a game and when a player notices it, it blows its mind. Overall I see improvements and now I was able to try Hell, which is a bit buggy for now, but able to be completed, and now I realized the potions and their importance. :)
Thank you for all the feedback!! taking time out of your day to help me and basically playing testing lool! I'll be making improvements now and you don't need to keep replaying it lol but thank you so much!! Hopefully my next games are a lot better quality with less spaghetti code!! <3333
